Indicative land pricing: these planning prices combine published 2027 rail fares with an estimated land allowance of A$1,730 per person sharing, or A$2,810 for a solo traveller. Hotel, transfer and touring costs will be checked and repriced for your selected dates before a booking is confirmed.

Prices are indicative per person in Australian dollars, based on low-season hotel and touring rates outside major events, public holidays and other peak periods. Your price will be readjusted for your chosen dates, current rail fares and availability. Gold Twin, Gold Premium and Platinum prices assume two guests share a cabin and hotel room. Gold Single includes a private rail cabin and sole-use hotel room. All flights are excluded. We can completely tailor this itinerary to your interests and match your flight connections; our team can also add flights on request.

Off-train immersive experiences

  • Kalgoorlie and Cook: goldfields history and remote railway country.
  • Barossa Valley: a hosted regional dining experience.
  • Broken Hill: choose among the available heritage, art and local experiences.
  • Blue Mountains: select an available mountains experience before the hosted rail connection to Sydney, or remain on the train for an earlier arrival.

One activity is chosen at each choice stop. Menus, venues, timings and activities vary with the departure, access, weather and availability. Optional upgrades are additional.

Travel Itinerary

Perth city and the Swan River

Your included airport transfer takes you to QT Perth for two nights. Settle in and enjoy the city at your own pace, perhaps finding a riverside café or taking a walk through the central neighbourhoods. Dinner is independent, leaving you free to choose the style of evening that suits you. Arriving before the train gives you time for tomorrow’s island experience and avoids a same-day flight connection. Standard hotel check-in times apply, with luggage storage on request.

Meals: none. Overnight: QT Perth.

Rottnest Island coastline and turquoise water

Travel by ferry from Perth or Fremantle, as confirmed in your final arrangements, to Wadjemup / Rottnest Island. An included guided bus tour introduces the island’s coastal scenery and stories, with time to enjoy the settlement independently before the return ferry. Keep an eye out for quokkas from a respectful distance and take in the clear water and sheltered bays. The package includes return ferry travel, the island admission fee and the bus tour. Lunch and transport to the ferry departure point are excluded unless added to your quote; sailings remain subject to weather and operating conditions.

Meals: hotel breakfast. Lunch and dinner at own expense. Overnight: QT Perth.

The Indian Pacific on its transcontinental journey

Enjoy breakfast and some free time before your included transfer to East Perth Terminal. Board the Indian Pacific later in the day and settle into your selected cabin. As the train leaves the city, meet your fellow travellers and begin to enjoy the slower rhythm of life on the rails. Dinner introduces regional Australian flavours with wines and beverages included. Your four-night crossing will connect goldfields, remote railway towns, wine country and mountain scenery before reaching Sydney.

Meals: hotel breakfast and rail dinner. Overnight: Indian Pacific.

Guests exploring Kalgoorlie on an Indian Pacific experience

Wake in Western Australia’s interior and step off for an introduction to Kalgoorlie’s gold-mining heritage. Available experiences connect the town’s early stories with the scale of the modern goldfields. Back on board, the Nullarbor opens into long horizons, giving you time to relax, read or share a drink in the lounge. Later, pause at Cook, a remote railway settlement where the buildings and vast surroundings offer a striking sense of distance. Evening outdoor activities depend on the departure and conditions before you continue east.

Meals: rail breakfast or brunch, lunch and dinner according to the train programme. Overnight: Indian Pacific.

Travellers enjoying a Barossa Valley food and wine experience

Enjoy a leisurely day on board as the landscape changes towards South Australia’s agricultural country. Breakfast and lunch are served while the train continues east, with time to appreciate the views between conversations in the lounge. Later, travel from the rail stop into the Barossa Valley for a hosted regional dining experience. Food, wine and the setting bring the region’s character to life. The exact venue and arrangements are confirmed for your departure. Return to the train after dinner for another night on the rails.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight: Indian Pacific.

Guests discovering Broken Hill on an off-train experience

Explore Broken Hill through one of the off-train experiences offered on your departure. You might focus on mining history, local art, food or the town’s distinctive personalities, with choices varying by date and capacity. Your specialist can help match the experience to your interests and preferred activity level. Rejoin the Indian Pacific for lunch as the journey continues through regional New South Wales. Tonight is your final rail dinner, a chance to share favourite moments with fellow guests before tomorrow’s mountain scenery and arrival in Sydney.

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight: Indian Pacific.

Travellers enjoying the Blue Mountains

Your final rail morning brings the Blue Mountains into view. Choose an available off-train mountains experience, with options that may include scenic attractions, a guided walk or a more leisurely visit. Afterwards, the hosted rail connection takes you into Sydney Central. Travellers preferring an earlier arrival can remain on the Indian Pacific; tell us your preference so your transfer is arranged correctly. Meet your included transfer to Vibe Hotel Sydney for two nights, with the evening free to enjoy the city independently.

Meals: rail breakfast and lunch according to your selected programme. Overnight: Vibe Hotel Sydney.

Cruising past the Sydney Opera House on Sydney Harbour

After breakfast, make your way to the confirmed departure wharf for a Sydney Harbour lunch cruise. Settle in for a leisurely meal as the waterfront changes around you, with views towards the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the city’s bays. The vessel, menu and sailing time will be confirmed for your date. The rest of the day is independent, giving you time to explore The Rocks, the gardens or the waterfront. Transport between your hotel and the wharf is at your own expense unless added to your quote.

Meals: hotel breakfast and cruise lunch. Overnight: Vibe Hotel Sydney.

Sydney Harbour and the Opera House

Enjoy breakfast before your included airport transfer at the agreed time. Flights are excluded, and we will align the arrangements with your chosen onward travel. You may prefer to add another Sydney night, explore a different neighbourhood or include further guided touring before leaving. Your Rail Travel Specialist can tailor the holiday around your interests, pace and flight connections, with any additional accommodation, experiences or flights clearly included in your personalised quote.

Meals: hotel breakfast. No overnight accommodation included.
